Kashkadarya is a region where most burials happen not in the regional capital but in ancestral village cemeteries. That determines everything: price, logistics, and who actually organises the funeral. Commercial funeral services exist in Karshi, but outside the city their role is minimal.
The overall level. Services in Karshi run 30–40% below Tashkent, and cheaper still in the districts. The mahalla and the kinship circle cover nearly all the work: washing, grave digging, preparation, dishes, awning. Cash mostly goes on transport and the food for the dastarkhan.
The official part. Death registration fee — about 15,300 UZS. A plot is free by law. Cemetery tariffs are approved by the regional mayor. The state benefit is 4 × the pension base — about 2,016,000 UZS from 1 July 2026 — processed at Khalq Bank or my.gov.uz on the day of application, with a 60-day deadline.
Real figures. Kafan — 110,000–350,000 UZS. Grave digging — 130,000–320,000. Transport within Karshi — 180,000–450,000. A Muslim burial — 0.7–1.5 million UZS, noticeably below the benefit amount.
Burial in an ancestral village cemetery. This is the most common situation in the region and adds one line: inter-district transport. From Karshi to a district — 400,000–1,200,000 UZS depending on distance. If the death occurred in Tashkent and the burial is in Kashkadarya, transport runs 2.5–5 million. Decide the burial place in the first hours, because all logistics follow from it.
The wake. A self-organised dastarkhan for 100–200 people — 2–4.5 million UZS. A serviced toykhana in Karshi — from 80,000–120,000 per head, so 8–20 million for a large circle. In the districts the restaurant format is barely used.
The 2026 bottom line. Modest format in Karshi: 1.8–3 million UZS. With district transport and a dastarkhan for 150: 4.5–8 million. Urban format with a toykhana for 200: 10–18 million. Monument separate: simple slab from 650,000; engraved granite 1.8–6.5 million.
Shakhrisabz and historic sites. In Shakhrisabz some old cemeteries adjoin protected historic zones, where additional restrictions apply to monument installation and any plot work. Check the status of the specific plot before ordering a monument — this is not a formality; it is the reason a finished stone sometimes cannot be installed.
For families abroad. Our Kashkadarya requests come mostly from Russia and Kazakhstan. We find the grave from incomplete data, confirm it with photos and GPS, install and refresh monuments, run care and arrange plov for a date. The funeral itself is organised by the mahalla — which is both correct and cheaper.
