After the cargo flight from Tashkent lands in the destination country, the receiving side asks for a specific set of documents. The exact list varies by country. This article: country-by-country breakdown.
Israel. Documents demanded at Ben Gurion: apostilled death certificate + certified Hebrew translation + Uzbek embalming certificate + non-contagious-disease certificate + Israeli consulate transit permit. The Chevra Kadisha collects the body; police clearance is automatic from the consular paperwork. Burial permit issued same day by the religious affairs ministry.
USA. Documents demanded at port of entry: apostilled death certificate + CDC import permit (issued by Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, ~$50, online application) + transit permit from the US embassy in Tashkent + state-specific burial permit (issued by destination state). For New York/Queens (most Bukharian arrivals), the NYC funeral home handles the state permit.
Germany. Documents demanded at Frankfurt: apostilled death certificate + sworn German translation + Uzbek embalming certificate + non-contagious-disease certificate + German consular endorsement (often included in apostille step). The local Standesamt issues the Bestattungsschein on the basis of these — typically 1–3 working days.
Canada. Documents demanded at Toronto/Montreal: apostilled death certificate + certified English or French translation + Canada Border Services Agency import permit + provincial burial permit. The receiving funeral home handles the provincial step.
Russia. Documents demanded at Moscow: Uzbek death certificate translated to Russian (auto-recognized, same Cyrillic + same regional standards) + Russian ZAGS recognition of the death (typically same-day issue) + Russian local burial permit. Simpler than Western corridors.
Autopsy considerations. Some countries (US, Germany) require a non-autopsy certification — that no further autopsy will happen post-arrival. This is a separate paper, issued by the destination funeral home upon family confirmation.
What we coordinate. We ensure all pre-arrival documents are correctly filed before the cargo departure. The post-arrival documents are usually handled by the receiving funeral home, but we maintain communication with them through the transition to confirm everything is on track.
