Diaspora families ask this constantly: «is monthly enough, or should we go biweekly?». The answer depends on tradition, plot size, family activity level and budget. Here's how the Queens, Tel Aviv and Toronto communities have settled the question over 20+ years.
Queens Bukharian Jewish norm: monthly (12 visits/year), with extras around Yahrzeit (3–5 days before), Elul (Kever Avot, first week of Elul), and pre-Rosh Hashanah. Total effectively 14–15 visits/year for active families. Monthly is the floor; anything less leaves visible weed growth in spring and summer.
Tel Aviv Jewish norm: biweekly (24 visits/year) is more common among Israeli families with multiple plots. The shorter distance creates more «we can check in» mindset.
US Russian Orthodox norm: monthly with extras around Sorokoust (40-day), parental Saturdays, and Radonitsa. Effectively 14–15 visits/year.
Toronto Bukharian / Russian Jewish norm: monthly minimum, often biweekly for established families. Lower per-visit cost in Toronto because of established service relationships.
Per-visit economics. At 12 visits/year, per-visit cost is $25–35. At 24 visits, $15–25. At 48, $8–12. The marginal value of going from 12 to 24 is high (covers all weather seasons, all memorial dates with buffer). From 24 to 48 is mostly insurance against weed growth and unexpected events.
Hebrew calendar synchronization. We auto-place visits 3–5 days before each Yahrzeit, in the first week of Elul, and 2 days before each major Bukharian community event. You don't need to remember; the system aligns to the family member you registered.
All US-dollar pricing at `/en/tseny`. Annual prepayment saves 10–15%.
